Good morning,

I’m not sure this horror story is the best way to start your day, but since horror is your thing, I’m certain it will make you cringe.  Last week, a woman driving in Lake Worth, Florida was issued a citation for texting with her right hand while driving with her left. When she held up the stub where her right arm used to be and asked the cop did he want to reconsider, you know what he did?  Of course you do, the same thing people in horror movies do when told DO NOT say Candyman three times. Read on. It gets better from here.

🩸SHOULD WE BE SCARED?

Last week, hackers allegedly found a surprisingly easy way to access Instagram accounts: simply by asking Meta’s AI chatbot to reset people’s passwords. Imagine your entire online life getting hijacked because the robot helper was feeling… helpful.

Meta (owner of Instagram and Facebook) says the issue has since been resolved.

And sure. We believe them.

In the same way horror movie characters believe the creepy little kid whispering, “Don’t worry. The basement monster is gone.”

  • Scary Movie Is Back… and Everyone’s Getting Roasted

Genre outlets are calling 2026 one of horror’s strongest years in a while, with titles like Backrooms, Obsession, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, and Send Help keeping horror unusually dominant in theaters. Nice to see fear finally getting invited to the grown-ups’ table.

🩸THE GRUDGE BLOG — STORYTELLERS: STEPHEN KING’S HIERARCHY OF SCARES

Introducing our new blog: Storytellers. It’s our little corner of the newsletter for me to share my thoughts with writers, or would be writers, or failed writers, or content creators, or any horror fan who’s interested in getting motivated, or hearing about some horror inside info not typically shared. 🩸HORROR TO WATCH ON STREAMERS

What’s Worth The Watch — a mix of hidden gems, buzzy titles, comfort horror, underseen picks, and classics worth revisiting.

“Summer comfort horror, but loud.”

Alien vs. Predator: Streaming on Tubi

Want something dumb, fun, and gloriously committed to chaos? Giant aliens versus giant predators still gets the job done.

“Underrated gem alert”

Overlord: streaming on Tubi

Nazi experiments + war horror + creature-feature energy = wildly entertaining. One of those “how did I miss this?” horror picks.

“The sleeper pick”

Hokum: Streaming on VOD/home platforms now

Critics are oddly enthusiastic about this one, which means horror fans are legally obligated to say, “I saw it before everyone else.” Dark, weird, and apparently worth the hype.
