Good morning,

last Saturday night we held our very first virtual event, Ready or Not Trivia Night. It was a night of horror trivia, fun surprises, and some sweet rewards. We’re currently in the lab with our pens and pads cooking up even more horror themed events to share. And on that mixed metaphor, read on.

🩸TODAY’S TERROR — THE HORROR OF “READ RECIEPTS”

Once upon a time if someone ignored your text message you could pretend they were busy. Dead battery. Trapped in traffic. Maybe abducted by something with claws.

Now? We know.

Read 9:42 AM.

And yet… silence.

No response. No explanation. Just the psychological horror of knowing they saw your message… and actively chose peace instead. Honestly, ghost stories were less upsetting.

Somewhere, a masked killer is standing in a dark hallway thinking, “Damn. Even I text back.”

🩸RECENT HORROR NEWS

Adam Scott’s Hokum keeps haunting critics (rude).
Remember when we talked about Hokum last week? Well, the creepy haunted-inn nightmare is still gaining momentum, with critics continuing to rank it among the year’s strongest horror surprises. Apparently audiences wanted dread, grief, and emotional damage all in one ticket. How efficient.

May horror season is officially stacked.
Between Passenger hitting theaters this weekend and buzz building for Backrooms next week, horror fans are currently eating suspiciously well. May 2026 is shaping up to be one of the strongest horror months in years. Which probably means your sleep schedule is doomed.

People are already whispering “best horror of the year” about Obsession.
The psychological horror film Obsession continues building serious momentum, with critics calling it one of the standout genre films of 2026. Nothing says “great date night” like emotional collapse wrapped in dread.

🩸T-BONE’S TOP MOVIE PICKS

This week T-Bone presents a foreign horror, a popular horror, and a horror classic where absolutely no one dies for his No One Needs to Die selections.

🩸NEWSWORTHY NUMBER

72% 😱

That’s roughly how many Americans say they enjoy being scared for entertainment at least occasionally. Which means horror fans are either emotionally resilient… or we all just process stress by voluntarily adding more stress.

🩸HORROR IN THEATERS.

  • Saccharine – (May 22nd) Hana, a lovelorn medical student, whose obsession with an extreme weight-loss fad involving human ashes draws the attention of a hungry ghost... This one made me hungry. Trailer

  • Passenger –- (May 22nd) A paranormal creature feature… This one looks scary. Trailer

  • Obsession — (May 15th) Supernatural horror from director Curry Barker about a lonely music store employee who uses a cursed novelty toy to make his childhood crush fall in love with him… The cursed novelty toy trick never works…trust me.

  • Affection — (May 8th) Sci-Fi/Horror. Ellie Carter suffers from violent memory-resetting seizures, causing her to distrust her own reality. Trailer

  • Hokum — (May 1st) The haunted-inn horror starring Adam Scott is still hanging around theaters and proving that awkward charm plus supernatural dread is apparently a winning combo.  Trailer

Coming Soon

  • Backrooms — (May 29th) Backrooms brings the viral-liminal horror web series to the big screen.

Keep an eye out for

  • Scary Movie 6 — (June 12th) The Wayans Brothers send-up of recent horror movies... Not horror, not scary, but could be fun for horror fans Trailer

  • Leviticus –- (June 19th)

  • Alpha (July 10th) blending body humor with grief

🩸COSPLAY CORNER

Last week I showed you one of our fans all dripped out as Marion Crane from Psycho for our virtual Midsummer Movie Madness event last year. This week it’s me as Freddy Krueger’s wine loving cousin—TEDDY KRUEGER. Notice the corkscrew finger. Clever, huh? Teddy can wine & dine you to death. Compliments will be accepted.

On a more serious note, next week I’ll show you a fan who knows how to step up their costume game. These costumes are making me feel Halloween already and (sadly) it’s only May. Let’s do all we can to keep those feels alive. Just drop by next week.

🩸HORROR TO WATCH ON STREAMERS

Black Phone 2 — Shudder
The phone rings again, because apparently trauma has voicemail. If you liked creepy kids, masked nightmares, and emotional damage, congratulations: your weekend plans are set.

Heresy — Shudder & AMC+

Nope — Netflix, because nightmares weren’t convenient enough.
Still one of the creepiest modern sci-fi horror films around. UFO dread, monkey trauma, and one sequence you absolutely won’t forget.

Faces of Death (2026) — Shudder
The modern reimagining of the infamous cult shocker has landed for at-home viewing if social-media horror and true-crime dread are your thing. Viewer discretion strongly suggested.

 🩸FINAL SIP

That’s it for this week.

Remember: the difference between a horror fan and a horror victim…

is knowing when not to investigate the noise. 👀
