Good morning,
On Friday night, the Artemis II astronauts arrived safely back on earth. Congratulations. But do you remember that sci-fi/horror movie where the astronauts came back and they were somehow… different? If I was the spouse of one of these four, I’d sleep with one eye open—at least for a few nights.
🩸SHOULD WE BE SCARED?

What is it with the sun lately? Last week we reported about scientists capturing the sun’s power in a liquid battery. This week it’s manmade airborne particles that can block the sun’s harmful rays. And why are they doing this? Money. That’s the real horror story—helping humanity for a buck.

🩸SPOTLIGHT FILMMAKERS — RADIO SILENCE

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett
Let’s talk about the duo that walked into horror, politely kicked the door off its hinges, and then asked if anyone wanted to play a game.
Meet Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett—collectively known as Radio Silence—the filmmaking team that has quietly (and then not-so-quietly) become one of horror’s most reliable hitmakers.
They first crept onto the scene as part of the indie horror collective Chad, Matt & Rob, cutting their teeth on viral shorts before delivering their breakout with V/H/S. But it wasn’t until they invited us to play a deadly game of hide-and-seek in Ready or Not that horror fans collectively said: “Oh… these guys are dangerous.”
And then they did the unthinkable—they touched the sacred text.
Reviving the Scream franchise with Scream and Scream VI, they didn’t just honor Wes Craven—they managed to evolve the franchise without getting stabbed by the fanbase. A miracle on par with surviving a third act monologue.
Why They Work
Radio Silence understands the assignment:
Tone tightrope walkers — balancing humor and brutality like it’s a sport
Character-first carnage — you actually care who gets chased
Modern horror instincts — they know exactly how today’s audience thinks… and how to betray it
Their films feel like they were made by fans who grew up yelling at the screen—and then grew up talented enough to control it.
The Grudge Take ☕
Radio Silence doesn’t just make horror movies.
They make horror fun again—the kind where you laugh, scream, and immediately start feeling guilty for laughing at a beheading.
And if they keep this up, they’re not just playing in horror…
they’re rewriting the rules while fresh off the boat horror filmmakers watch from the corner, taking notes. 🔪
